After qualifying as a Midwife at St Thomas’ and Guys’ Hospitals, Susan went on to develop expertise in performing fetal heart scans in a rapidly expanding department where she worked for several years. She was also involved in much research there and completed a PGC in Medical Ultrasound ( Obstetrics and Gynaecology).

Susan has since progressed her love of art, especially in drawing and in watercolour painting. She has also applied her skills to illustration and has a particular interest in learning about and conveying biological processes through her paintings. This led on to becoming a contributor to Wellcome Images and currently to Science Photo Library. In 2024 she contributed a painting to ‘A Letter in Mind’ The National Brain Appeal’s annual art fundraiser.
